With all of this talk about Across The Universe, a subject comes up again and again: Can the Beatles be covered successfully? A lot of people say no, I say yes. So I am curious:
Can you think of any Beatles covers that top or compete with the original?
I can give you two:
Fiona Apple's 'Across the Universe'
Stevie Wonder's 'We Can Work It Out'
Actually, I can give you a third!
Nancy Sinatra's 'Day Tripper'
Now you. Can you think of any?

Ella Fitzgerald - Savoy Truffle
and of course,
The Rutles! ;)
it might be cliche but i love it none the less
steven tyler and aerosmiths cover of come together, and also, motley crue's helter skelter...
they had to be covered eventually whether we like itor not, and they did it alright by me,,,,
Wow! How is it that no one has already said:
With A Little Help From My Friends, Joe Cocker.
Definitely THE BEST cover of a Beatles song. I think the Beatles even agreed that Joe's version was better than their own.
I've only heard one great cover of a Beatles' song. Marc Wallace-Eleanor Rigby. It's just really well done and different from the original, but does it justice at the same time. That's all a good Beatles cover requires. Enjoy!

i havent heard a beatles cover that ive TRULY enjoyed...maybe its because i kno its not the beatles and it seems blasphemous, but the beatles puts you in a mood...the way they sing, how the instruments sound, and the fact that you know they were probably trippin balls when they wrote the music, or were being shady in some other way
